1st Step

So, finally after giving much thought about it I have decided that I am going to start reading a lot and then try and write whatever comes to my mind. Now that is not that easy as it seems, because you need to have a constant flow of thoughts for writing and also to find the exact words to describe the thoughts effectively and creatively so that others actually enjoy reading it.

Also, I need to work a lot on improving my vocabulary...learn new words and then use it and also, use the words I know in a creative manner. I think I am using the word creative very often but it is coming to my mind again and again. I feel with reading my vocabulary will also improve, and then I may be able to use it impressively. I just hope I am able to do that.

Presently, I am reading The Heart of A Women by Maya Angelou and planning to start reading a new book also, which I will write about later. Maya Angelou has described her struggle being a single mother and living at a time when the Africans were struggling for freedom and were not treated equally. As a writer she is good and can hook you to her book easily. Her apprehensions are well described and even the reader can feel it but somehow I was not able to feel a connection with her, which I feel is very important. For me to be a good writer the reader should feel a connection to what he or she is reading. Maybe I am wrong, or maybe I have not actually been through any such circumstances that I don't feel connected. Whatever may be the reason but reading it has definitely helped me to analyse the shortcomings which while writing should be taken care of.
